Google Galaxy Nexus for Sprint receives Android 4.3 software update

In the midst of the Android 4.4 KitKat announcements and the unveiling of the Google Nexus 5, Sprint has started rolling out a new update for the Google Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately it is not the KitKat update which won't be released for the Galaxy Nexus. Instead the phone is finally receiving .

As part of Google's policy for their Nexus devices, the company will only release updates for 18 months of its life. Given the Galaxy Nexus is now over two years old its support has come to an end.

Despite being a Google experience device, the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint and and the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon have not received timely updates. Even Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is arriving nearly four months after it was originally released.

The Android 4.3 update is being pushed OTA (over-the-air) and comes with the GJ04 software version. You should receive a notification of the update's availability within the next 10 to 21 days. Once you receive the notification make sure you have at least 50% of your battery life and that you are connected to your Wi-Fi before initiating the update.
