We recently reported that the Microsoft Surface RT was being discounted to $349 through the Microsoft Store. Now the discount has been extended across markets in Europe, with the ARM powered tablet being offered at £279 in UK and €329 in Germany.
The Surface RT was launched at a somewhat pricey $499 with apps limited to the Windows Store. This caused users to wait for the Microsoft Surface Pro instead, with offers a full Windows experience with access to any Windows application. However the Surface Pro sales haven't been too impressive either, likely a result of another high price tag. Unfortunately this doesn't mean Microsoft plans to discount the Surface Pro anytime soon, especially since they have Windows 8.1 around the corner.
Even without access to legacy Windows apps, the Surface RT is a pretty good tablet which covers all the basics including web browsing, gaming and productivity with Office 2013. Even though the Surface hasn't proven to be the "iPad killer" Microsoft would have wanted it to be, its still found satisfaction from its customers.
While students have the added option of getting the Surface RT discounted as low as $199 through educational institutions. General users in the UK can get their hands on the discounted Microsoft tablet through places like PC World and Lewis along with other retailers.
