The new SmartWatch 2 allows you to check your calls, messages, emails and notifications without having to reach for your smartphone. It has a 1.6 inch touch display with a 220 by 176 pixel resolution encased in a beautifully designed aluminum frame. Sony has even included (IP57 certified) water resistance like the Xperia Z Ultra to keep your device extra safe when you are at the beach or visiting a pool.
The SmartWatch 2 runs Android, which means it will be compatible with other devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or greater. Unfortunately the support hasn't been extended to work with iOS devices like the iPhone or iPad.
The SmartWatch 2 comes with 200 applications and an open API for developers to bring their own apps to the device. You can also control your music with it and connect it to a Bluetooth headset via NFC to receive and end calls. The battery life of the device is said to be around four days and it charges via standard microUSB.
The Sony SmartWatch 2 is available in an array of colors for the strap and can be used with just baout any standard 24mm watch strap. The device will be available in black and is expected to arrive in September, but the pricing has still to be unveiled.
