Nokia has scheduled an event for July 11 at 11AM in New York City, where they plan to reinvent zoom. We already know the company is working on the Nokia EOS which is supposed to feature PureView Phase 1 and succeed the Nokia 808 PureView.
The Nokia EOS is expected to feature a 41 megapixel sensor which is shown contributing to a bump at the rear of the handset, in some leaked photos. But we can't help wonder if Nokia has something new planned for us.
The PureView Phase 1 technology is essense uses an extra large sense to capture minute detail. However we aren't certain if this is the best alternative to a traditional optical zoom.
Samsung recently unveiled their Galaxy S4 Zoom with a 16 megapixel camera and 10x zoom. This device also offers optical image stabilization which wasn't a part of the 808 PureView. The only downside with the Galaxy S4 Zoom is its width, which makes it hard to pocket.
The rumored EOS doesn't seem to feature an optical zoom in the leaked photos. Nokia has also previously stated that they didn't plan to bring merge PureView Phase 1 and Phase 2 which would have brought OIS to the Nokia EOS. So this leaves us curiously wondering what Nokia has planned for us on July 11.
In any case the invitation pictured on the right shows the amount of detail the image captured from the tiny dot at the end of "Zoom" and we can't wait to see what Nokia has to offer us.
