The Samsung Galaxy Camera is an interesting concept. It combines the best of a smartphone into the body of a point and shoot camera. However its somewhat pricey at $500 which additionally requires users to pay a monthly for a data plan. Now Samsung has introduced a Wi-Fi only model for $449 for users who don’t require the data connection.
The device features a 16 megapixel camera with 21x long zoom which allows capturing photos from a long distance away. The device has a 4.8 inch HD touch display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor.
Unfortunately the camera doesn’t offer the quality of photos you would expect from a $500 camera, despite having a generous zoom. Additionally we feel Samsung has gotten somewhat greedy with the success of their Galaxy Series and feel disappointed that the Wi-Fi only unit has been discounted by only $50.
Our recommendation is hold off until the prices drop… No thank you for now Samsung.
