Sharp has been working on their IGZO display technology for several years now. They have brought their display technology to CES 2013 this year and explain the various benefits of the technology compared to LCD and AMOLED which are popular technologies in today’s market.
The IGZO technology promises to double the resolution of the display while dramatically reducing the power consumption by 80 – 90 percent. The technology is even capable of displaying an image even after the power supply to the display has been stopped.
What's most interesting is that Topeka analyst Brian White has was present at Sharp’s media event stated that Apple is believed to be a prime candidate for IGZO. If this becomes a reality the IGZO technology will receive an enormous boost which will help it quickly grow in popularity.
