Steve Wozniak thinks iTunes should be released for Android

Steve_Wozniak
Today during an “Ask Me Anything” session on Slashdot, Steve Wozniak had some interesting thoughts to share about Apple and Android. But the most interesting fact he shared was that he thought iTunes should be ported to Android.

He got to this while he was explaining the perception that Apple has become “less relevant” of the past few years. He said that although he doesn’t consider iPhones inferior to other smartphones nor does he feel that iOS 6 is inferior to Android, but that Apple probably lost sales  to other companies due to the lack of choices like screen sizes.

Woz as he is fondly known loves “the quality of Apple products”, but believes in the “core values of openness and sharing of technology”. He spoke about the time Apple took over the music industry with iTunes and the iPod and feels it achieved success by porting iTunes to Windows.

In this post PC era he feels iTunes continuous success can be achieved by bringing it to Android.

But we have to wonder if this will be a smart move for Apple. While iTunes was ported to Windows, the purpose was to motivate Windows users to purchase iPods. Allowing iTunes to be available on Android will remove the need of purchasing iPhones which is not what Apple would want.
