[Guide] How to root the Motorola Atrix HD

The Motorola Atrix HD has been rooted and Is also reported to work on the other new Motorola devices including the Motorola Droid RAZR M, Motorola Droid RAZR HD and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD among others.

For those who don’t know it the Atrix HD features 4.5 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. It is available in the US through AT&T.

The step by step guide on how to root your Motorola Atrix HD follows:

[NOTE] Before you proceed, please note that we do not recommend rooting or installing custom ROMs on your device as it may result in device malfunction or data loss if not performed properly. Do not proceed unless you are aware of these consequences and note that you are proceeding at your own risk.

[NOTE] Please perform a full backup of your data before you proceed
  1. Download and install the Motorola USB drivers.
  2. Download and extract the motofail2go_windows.zip
  3. Connect your device to your computer and the click on the ‘run.bat’ file which you previously extracted.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions and press the button combination of Volume Up + Power at the same time when asked to do so.
  5. If you receive an error like "run-as: Package 'com.motorola.bug2go' is unknown", you will have to perform a factory reset (wipe data + wipe cache partitions) on your device before trying again.
