Google and LG officially announce the Nexus 4
Despite Google cancelling their Android Event which was supposed to be held in New York city, they went on to release their new Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 10 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. A lot of the information about these devices were already leaked in the months leading up to the announcement, but Google unveiled all that you would want to know about the company’s newest flagship smartphone.
The Nexus 4 features a 4.7 inch HD touch display, up to 16GB of internal storage an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, a secondary 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls and will be powered by a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM.
The 2100 mAh battery on the device, promises a reasonable 15.3 hours of talk time, while the Gorilla Glass protects the display from getting scratched. Additionally the Nexus 4 features NFC and wireless charging, but the interesting addition is the new Android 4.2 software update.
Android 4.2 adds new features like PhotoSphere which allows you to capture images in all four directions and stitch them together. You can learn more about Android 4.2 here.
The Nexus 4 will be available in a 8GB variant which will only cost $299 for the unlocked version, while the 16GB version will cost $349. These are amazing prices considering the specification and the fact that you wont be tied down to a contract with your carrier. You will be able to purchase the device starting November 13th through the Google Play Store in US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia. The listing is already available on the Play Store, but Google hasn’t revealed when the device will be available for pre-order just yet.
Meanwhile T-Mobile will also offer the Nexus 4 on its network for $199 with a two-year contract.
