Five reasons to switch to the Nokia Lumia 920

Last week I gave users five reasons not to buy the new iPhone 5. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple products and believe they could offer a superior experience compared to some devices in the market today. However it is important that users don't buy into the sales hype and think objectively before purchasing the new Apple iPhone 5.

Today I want to discuss five reasons you should switch to the Nokia Lumia 920. This post was inspired by Nokia’s ongoing competition on the Nokia Facebook page, which gives you an opportunity to win one of five Lumia 920 devices. I also feel Nokia smartphones are highly underrated here in the U.S. and hope this post will give users a chance to appreciate some of the new features which will be available on the upcoming Lumia 920.

Number 01 – Sturdy and attractive design

Smartphone manufacturers try to make their phones thinner and lighter, and in an attempt to do so, these devices become very flimsy and easily breakable. Nokia’s goal with the Lumia 920 is not only to make the device light and easy to hold but also to make it sturdy. This is achieved through the one-piece polycarbonate uni-body design which keeps the device immune to scratches while remaining easy to handle.

Nokia design team didn’t stop at sturdiness as they wanted to offer users an attractive array of colors to suite the users personality, compared to the black or white options that the competitors offer.

Number 02 – PureView camera

The Nokia Lumia 920 features the second generation of PureView technology and Carl Zeiss optics. Unlike the Nokia 808 PureView, which uses a large 41 megapixel sensor to oversample the images it captures, the Lumia 920 features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and amazing low light photography by vastly improving the sensor and LED flash.

OIS allows your photos to avoid blurriness which is common in low light and with shaky hands. The results show the Lumia 920 can capture photos which can even be compared to professional DSLR cameras despite it being taken from a smartphone.

Even when tested against some of the top smartphones in the market today, the Lumia 920 came out the clear winner.

Number 03 – Super Sensitive touchscreen for gloves on use

One of the biggest issues with capacitive touchscreens is the need to be used glove free. This can be very frustrating in colder countries, especially Nokia’s hometown in Finland. The Nokia Lumia 920 conquers this problem by offering a super sensitive touch display which can be used with your gloves on. This innovative display will ensure you don’t have to struggle with your gloves when you want to take a picture during winter. Your comfort is your Lumia 920’s priority.

Number 04 – Offline Nokia Maps

Android users have Google Maps and Apple users have the newly introduced Apple Maps, but Nokia users have long enjoyed offline maps on their Symbian handsets before Google finally decided to join in. Nokia Maps is now making its way to Windows Phone and will be available on the Nokia Lumia 920.

Nokia Maps with offline mode will allow you to use mapping and navigation features without having to use your expensive data connection.

Number 05 – Wireless Charging

The Lumia 920 will even charge off a new collection of accessories which will be available for the device.

You can read more about the wireless charging on the Lumia 920 here.

The Nokia Lumia 920 brings the best of Nokia and includes some innovative new features which promise to make the device a worthy choice. While we restricted this post to just five reasons to switch to the Lumia 920 we can assure you there are many more.

The best of Nokia coupled with familiar Microsoft features like Xbox and Office  make the Lumia 920 smartphone for the smart user.
