Apple Mac OS X 10.8.2 now available for download, features Facebook integration and more
Alongside today’s release of Apple iOS 6.0 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, Apple has also released an update to Mac OS X Mountain Lion. The new version 10.8.2 fixes a battery issue on MacBooks and brings some new likes like Facebook integration, Game Center enhancements along with several little tweaks and improvements.
You can get the latest version of Mac OS X right now directly on your device through the Mac App Store or by using the link which follows.
When Apple released the OS X 10.8 update to their MacBook lineup, several users experienced a drop in battery life. Apple first attempted to fix this issue with the OS X 10.8.1 update, and while it was somewhat resolved it didn’t offer the same performance as pre Mountain Lion. Now Apple has resolved the battery issues with OS X 10.8.2 and have managed to improve it beyond the OS X 10.7 experience as well.
Another welcome feature is the Facebook integration. Much like with iOS 6.0, you have a single sign-in which will sync your Contacts app with your Facebook contacts. Your Facebook notifications will appear on your Mac notification center and you can even post an update to Facebook directly from your Notification Center on your Mac.
The Game Center is another feature which has been improved in the 10.8.2 update. You can now share your game scores with friends on Facebook, Twitter, Mail or Messages. Because of the Facebook integration, you can also see your Facebook friends you use Game Center.
