Apple iOS 6 Beta 4 now available for download, YouTube app removed

Apple has released iOS 6 Beta 4 to developers registers in the iOS Developer Program. The newest release comes  three weeks after Apple released the third beta of their mobile operating system.

As with previous beta releases Apple hopes to improve stability and fix bugs in iOS before its public release later this year alongside a new iPhone. Developers can download the beta builds to test their apps for compatibility while providing feedback to Apple on the releases.

If you are a developer registered in Apple’s iOS developer program you can download iOS 6 Beta 4 by heading over here. You can also download the latest version as as Over-the-Air update on your supported devices.

One notable change is that Apple has now removed the YouTube app in this release. Apparently iOS 6 beta 3 had stopped referencing the YouTube app when YouTube links were clicked, and it seams the next step was to remove the app all together.

This will be the second Google application Apple is removing in their latest iOS release with Apple introducing their own mapping solution in place of the Google powered maps currently available in iOS.

Apple made the following statement in this regard.
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.
While this may disappointed some users, it in fact will give Google an opportunity to release their own apps on the iOS platform.
