Windows 8 is currently available as a Release Preview to the public, but Microsoft has been busy getting the final version of Windows 8 ready for launch on October 26th. Some leaked screenshots have surfaced today, which show how Windows has evolved since the Release Preview as Microsoft continues to tweak the operating system for performance.
Windows RTM is set to be seeded to manufactures during the first week of August, giving them time to customize the operating system to suite various hardware configurations.
The following UI changes have apparently been made to Windows 8 RTM since the Windows 8 Release Preview.
- Removed the ability to independently select color of Windows and taskbar.
- Redesigned ‘Metro inspired’ buttons and tabs in Internet Explorer 10 (IE10). The new look complements IE10’s set theme.
- Added new wallpapers
- Added three new themes: Windows, Earth and Flowers.
- A new boot screen with the Windows 8 logo, complements the minimalistic new look.
- Aero Glass theme has been removed in accordance to the new UI.
While this information is based on leaked reports, it is likely that Microsoft will be implementing this and other similar changes to keep up with their new minimalistic approach to the Windows Operating system.
