Mozilla's Firefox OS revealed

Firefox OS which was previously code-named Boot to Gecko has stepped into the limelight to show off its HTML-5 based UI. Mozilla hopes to make Firefox OS a totally open and free mobile operating system.

Since the system will run HTML-5 based web apps, developers can code apps which can run on any HTML5 based web browser.

While we have been getting little glimpses of Mozilla's Firefox OS up until now, we can now take a look at the key features of the mobile OS in the following screenshots.

Firefox OS will debut on its first commercial phone through Brazil's Telephonica toward the end of 2012 or early 2013  which shows Mozilla's dedication to get their mobile OS out to the masses.

Firefox OS has also gained support from Sprint an Deutsche Telekom, so we hope to see several new devices running the operating system appear next year.

So what are your thoughts on the new mobile operating system ? Do you think Firefox OS has what it takes to make an impact in a mobile market dominated by iOS and Android ?
