Microsoft Surface prices revealed at $599 for ARM version and $999 for Intel version ?

Microsoft recently announced their own addition to the tablet market but in the process failed to reveal their pricing. Now a recent report suggests that a source close to Microsoft has revealed the pricing of the Microsoft tablets.

The is said to cost $599. This can be considered reasonable pricing for the 32GB model, and even better if the Touch Cover is included in the pricing. Microsoft will be keeping their promise to offer a competitive price for the device. While a $499 price or lower would have given it a bigger edge against the iPad, it would likely have strained Microsoft’s relationship with OEMs who are taking a chance on manufacturing Windows tablets.

The will be priced at $999 which is actually higher than most ultra-books and at the Apple MacBook Air price range. However we are still happy with Microsoft’s pricing with this model. With USB 3.0 connectivity, a full HD display and its Core i5 processor the Surface is in a premium range which deserves a premium price tag.

The final result lies in its real world operation. So far the Surface has stayed hidden in Microsoft’s labs. When regular people get a chance to install and run apps on the tablets, it will be interesting to see how the full version of Windows fairs against it’s mobile opposition.
Unless the Microsoft Surface offers its users a premium performance, Its days in the limelight will be very short lived.
