Motorola Droid 3 receives (5.7.905.XT862) software update


The has received a firmware update (5.7.905.XT862) which is 230MB in size and comes with several improvements and enhancements.

While the Droid 3 has a powerful dual-core processor and QWERTY keyboard, it unfortunately wont get a chance to see savor Ice Cream Sandwich. However this software update is very relevant as you will see in the following change-log.

The features and improvements in the update 5.7.905.XT862 include:

Device Features
  • A Google Security Patch which improves the security level in your device.
  • Fixes issue which causes the device to power on without user interaction
  • Avoid device interruption when accessing an application prior to the storage being fully mounted on the device.

  • Plus code dialing has been enhanced, which improves your experience when travelling.

  • The ability to place a call to a contact through a contact widget.
  • Shortcuts of apps which have been moved to SD storage will not be removed.
  • The Messaging UI will display the correct contact information when the contact information has been updated in the Messaging app.
  • The ability to successfully post and play videos on Facebook.
  • You can now download, save and use purchased ringtones where appropriate.
  • Contact information is now displayed properly in Google Voice.
  • VZ Navigator 3D City is now preloaded.
  • Resolved issue with excessive data usage and continuous downloading for VZ Navigator 3D City downloads.

While the Motorola Droid X2 users cannot expect Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich anytime in the future, but any update which improves features or security on your handset is always welcome.
