Absinthe 2.0 released, jailbreaks most iOS 5.1.1 devices


Absinthe 2.0 has been released and brings support for several devices running iOS 5.1.1. The jailbreak tool will support many iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads with the exception of the iPad 2,4 which features a 32nm A5 chip.

A step by step guide on how to jailbreak your iOS 5.1.1 device using Absinthe 2.0 follows

  1. Download Absinthe 2.0.2 [ WINDOWS | MAC OS | LINUX ]
  2. Connect your device to your computer using your USB cable.
  3. Take a backup of your device using iTunes, by selecting your device under ‘Devices’ and clicking ‘Backup’.
  4. Open Absinthe and make sure you are still connected to your computer.
  5. Click Jailbreak and wait for the process to complete.
  6. That’s it. Your device is now jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe.
How to Untether 5.1.1 if you have already jailbroken
  1. Open Cydia on your jailbroken iOS device.
  2. Search for ‘Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether’ and install it.
  3. Reboot your iOS device.
