[Guide] How to root / unroot HTC EVO 4G LTE


The for Sprint features a 4.7 inch HD touch display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel camera, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM.

The following guide will show you how to root / unroot your HTC EVO 4G LTE.


NOTE - Rooting your device is not recommended by the manufacturer and can cause device malfunction or loss of data if not performed properly. Please do not follow this guide unless you are aware of these risks.

WINDOWS
  1. Download and update drivers for your device [ 32bit | 64bit ]
  2. Download and extract Evo4GLTERoot.zip
  3. Run runme.bat and press ‘Enter’ on the command prompt to root your device.
MAC OS
  1. Download and extract Evo4GLTERoot.zip
  2. Open terminal and type the following
    cd Downloads/Evo4GLTERoot
    chmod 755 *
    sh runmelinux.sh
  3. When you bootup you will see SuperSU app in the apps.
  4. You can unroot your device
    1. Run SuperSU
    2. Navigate to Settings > Full Unroot
LINUX
  1. Download and extract Evo4GLTERoot.zip
  2. Run terminal and type the following
    cd Downloads/Evo4GLTERoot
    chmod 755 *
    sudo ./adb-linux devices
  3. Next type
    sh runmelinux.sh
