[Guide] How to install Android 4.0.4 on Google Nexus S 4G


The Google Nexus S 4G for Sprint will be among the first to receiving Android Ice Cream Sandwich. We now know that the wait for ICS will soon be over as the official (IMM7D) build was recently leaked.

You can follow our step by step guide on how to install the latest version of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on your Google Nexus S 4G.

[NOTE] It is always recommended to install updates through official update channels. Installing custom ROMs can result in loss of data or device malfunction if not performed correctly

[NOTE] The following process of installing this custom ROM will wipe all of the device's data. Please ensure you backup your data before you proceed.

  1. Download Android 4.0.4 (IMM76Drelease-keys.zip) ROM.
  • Press Volume Up + Volume Down and Power button.
  • Set your device into 'Download Mode'.
  • Connect your device to your computer and wait until it is detected by Odin
  • You will see '0:[COM]'
  • Select Bootloader and then SPH-D720_IMM76D_KE1_BOOTLOAD_signed.tar
  • Select PDA and then SPH-D720_IMM76D_PDA_signed.tar
  • Select Phone and then SPH-D720_IMM76D_LC1_Modem_signed.tar
  • Finally click Start
  • Once your device reboots your can enjoy Android Ice Cream Sandwich
Since the official release of Android ICS will soon be available, you may want to wait till Google releases Android 4.0.4 through it's official update channel.

You will receive an automatic notification when the update is available for your device but you can also manually search for the update though Settings > About phone > System update.
