Google seems to be in the process of unifying their services. First we heard reports of a Google Drive, which was supposed to unify all the file storage in Google including Google Docs, Picasa and Google Music. The next was in the form of a new service named Google Play which unified Android Market, Google Music and Google Books. Now it turns out that Google may be working on a solution to unify their gaming platforms.
The news comes from Punit Soni who spoke at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. He stated that Google was planning to unify the gaming on Google Web Store, Google+, Android and even Google Native Code to offer one Google Games platform on all of Google Services.
I don't quite understand the practicality of cross platform gaming that Soni is suggesting. My prediction is that games like Angry Birds which is available separately on all of Google's services will have a unified version allowing a user to play on their Android handset, Chromebook or even a Chrome browser and have Google+ integration. This in turn will allow scoreboards and leader-boards allowing you to have a more social gaming experience.
This would obviously not mean that all Android apps will be available on Google+ or the Chrome Web Store, but the common apps can be enjoyed across Google.
Do you guys agree? or do you feel there will be HTML5 based cross platform games which will be newly introduced. Share your thoughts below
