[Guide] How to root the Asus Transformer Prime on Android 3.2.1


The  Asus Transformer Prime following in the footsteps of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer as one of the most popular Android tablets thanks to it's attachable keyboard dock.

Now you can unlock the full potential of this Android powered device as it has been rooted. You will find the full step-by-step guide on how to root your Asus Transformer Prime on Android 3.2.1 using NachoRoot.

NOTE - The process of rooting your device is not recommended for novice users. Rooting can result in loss of data or malfunctioning of your device if not performed correctly and may void the device warranty. Please do not proceed unless you are aware of these consequences.

  1. Download Android SDK from Google.
  2. Setup ADB.
  3. Download the following files
  4. Enable USB debugging from Settings > Applications > Development.
  5. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable.
  6. Open command prompt, navigate to the ADB directory on your PC and type the following commands
    • adb push nachoroot.bin /data/local/
    • adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/nachoroot.bin
    • adb shell /data/local/nachoroot.bin -stage1
    • adb reboot
  7. Once the device has rebooted enter the following commands:
    • adb shell /data/local/nachoroot.bin -stage2
    • adb reboot
  8. Once the device reboots again, enter the following:
    • adb shell id
  9. The shell id should display 0 if not start over from step 5.
  10. Once '0' is displayed, type the following:
    • adb remount
    • adb push su /system/xbin/su
    • adb shell chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su
    • adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbi/su
    • adb shell /data/local/nachoroot.bin -undo
    • adb reboot

  11. Once you have rebooted for the final time, download SuperUser from the Android Market.
If you have followed the steps correctly, you should have Android 3.2.1 successfully rooted on your Asus Transformer Prime

While there are no custom ROMs for the Asus Transformer Prime at this time you can download root only applications like Titanium BackUp, ROM Manager, Market Enabler and Battery Calibration.
