The Daily has reported that Microsoft is working on a version of their Office Suite for the iPad. Microsoft is still to enter the tablet market it makes sense that Microsoft would want to tap into the 80% dominance held by the iPad.
Apple has it's own suite which consists of Pages, Numbers and Keynote available for the iPad at $10 each. Microsoft is reported to be considering a similar pricing for their own productivity apps.
Microsoft is also working on a touch version of Office for Windows 8, so we will likely see some similarities in the iPad version of the product. The next version of Office is expected around mid-late 2012.
Microsoft would probably first release their next version of Office for their own tablets alongside Windows 8 before releasing the iPad version.
