[Guide] How to root the Samsung Galaxy Note on Android 2.3.5


The Samsung Galaxy Note has been rooted before release. The device features a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED screen. It also features a built in stylus with apps supporting pen input. The 8MP camera on the device is capable of capturing video in full 1080p HD and a secondary camera is available for video calls.

[NOTE] The rooting process is only recommended for experienced users. Please note that we are not responsible for any loss of data or malfunctioning that may occur as a result of flashing. It is also important to note that flashing your device may void its warranty.

The guide to root the Samsung Galaxy Note on Android 2.3.5 follows:
  1. Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer
  2. Download and launch ODIN 1.85
  3. Download Netchips ClockworkMod Recovery Kernel
  4. Switch your device off
    • Hold Volume Up + Volume Down to put your device in Download Mode
    • Plug your computer ti your device
  5. Once ODIN recognizes your device
    • Click the PDA button
    • Navigate to netchip-cwm-update2.tar and click Start
    • The file will be flashed and the device will be restarted.
  6. Once you have rebooted
    • Hold Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button
    • Your device will be in ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery mode.
  7. Navigate to install zip from sd card > choose zip from sdcard > su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip
  8. Reboot your device by selecting reboot system from the main menu
If you have followed the steps correctly you would have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Note, on Android 2.3.5
