Dell favors Android over Windows Phone

Dell has apparently cancelled their Windows Phone Mango devices. This includes the upcoming Dell Wrigley, which was meant to be an update to the Dell Venue Pro and appeared on a Dell device roadmap, back in February.

Sources in Dell say that they don't plan to offer Windows Phone devices this year or next. Dell not too long ago offered to get back to building Windows Phones if Microsoft offered a deal similar to the one they offered Nokia, and since they did't receive a follow up on that offer we probably won't see a Windows Phone from Dell in the very near future.

Dell looks to continue their smartphone market in the Android track for now, as the Android devices on their roadmap seam to remain in tact. With Nokia taking on Windows Phone as their sole smartphone OS, Microsoft may not be too bothered, but will Dell's dropping out of the Windows Phone market affect the end user's who respect Dell's position as a Windows hardware manufacturer.
