Apple iPhone 4S pre-orders surpass 1 million

The Apple iPhone 4S has broken the record set by the previous iPhone, with pre-orders surpassing 1 million units in just one day. The Apple iPhone 4 previously sold 600,000 units in a day.

“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S,” Phil Schiller, senior VP of Product Marketing, said. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”

The iPhone 4S came amid heavy expectations of a redesign along with upgraded hardware. While the new iPhone shares it's exterior with it's predecessor the hardware inside has been overhauled with a dual core processor, an 8MP camera and the voice powered assistant - Siri.
