It is a regular practice that attendees of developer conferences get some perks, and it is no different at Microsoft Conferences. The recently held BUILD conference got more than just the preview version of Windows 8. They also received a Windows 8 tablet from Samsung.It is no doubt that any successful platform requires a devoted developer community. Microsoft acknowledges the attending developers by giving away 5000 tablets running the Developer Preview of Windows 8. Microsoft is hoping of course that the outcome of the Samsung Tablet will be innovative new apps for their platform.
The Samsung Windows 8 tablet features a 11.6 inch display, 64GB SSD, microSD and free 3G access for a year from AT&T. Under the hood the device is powered by a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM.
Offering a device which retails at around $1099 is quite generous, but if Microsoft gets the outcome it hopes for we will definitely see some heavy competition for the folks at Apple.
