Nokia N9 Seconds - Codes Revealed



The N9 Seconds competition concluded yesterday with the last of the 20 codes being solved and 20 lucky winners walking away with what may be a Nokia N9 each. Over the last month Nokia's ad campaign 'the world's quickest ads' were viewed over 2.7 million times on YouTube by thousands of people who in tern would enter over 300,000 codes at n9seconds.com in hopes of winning a prize. If you were the lucky first to enter the correct code you would have been deemed correct.

Below are those 20 correct codes:

Code : 132545
Solution : The code corresponds with the time on the Watchmaker's watch just before he changes it - 13:25:45 PM.

Code : 915914
Solution : This is from the football player's video. The time on his phone reads 9:15 on the display and 9:14 on the top corner.


Code : 041434
Solution : This code is taken from the taxi's dashboards and is the last 2 numbers of the kilometers seen.

Code : PRND21
Solution : The two code is also taken from the taxi's dashboard. The first one refers to the speed measurement on the dashboard but written backwards. The second refers to the gears.

Code : STEPIN
Solution : There was one letter hidden in each of the ads. A milky 'S' wiped by the ballerina, The 'T' which blinked in the taxi driver's light, The 'E' on the football player's shirt, The 'P' on the watchmaker's wall, The 'I' on the helicopter drawing by the little boy and the 'N' from the poster boy.

Solution : These two codes were take from one frame which referred to a bus lane sign. The first refers to the time of day the lane can be used and the second refers to the days in the week it can be used but entered backwards.



Code : 436793
Solution : Players had to find the map coordinates of 'La Maquette' in Toronto. The Answer was 43.6 latitude and 79.3 longitude.

Clue
Solution : The code was made up of the 9th letter of each ad's description on YouTube. A clue was posted to help solve this code.

Clues
Solution : Two clues were posted to help viewers find this code. The code refers to the driver's name written backwards.

Solution : This refers to the date the events take place - 21st June 2011.

Code : DCA578
Solution : The code refers to the taxi's registration plate.



Code : CECE97
Clue
Solution : The solution with a 'little help' from the clue refers to the using the MD5 hashing function on STEPIN to produce the characters.

Code : 248338
Clue : 'The clue is glued to the wall.#Base9'
Solution : The solution is Leonardo Da Vinci's birthday when applied to the numerical Base 9 system. The poster on the wall led people to www.aerials-crew.com which had a picture of Da Vinci. The clue was meant to help figure out the rest.

Solution : Viewers had to look away from the ads for this one, which refers to Nokia's Head of Industrial Design - Axel Meyer. The clue was meant to help find this one.

Code : BTFPCW

Solution : The answer could be found with the help of the clue by taking the first letter of the six characters in the ads - Ballerina, Taxi Driver, Football player, Poster boy, Child and Watchmaker.

Code : 280302
Clues
Solution :  Three clues were posted to help solve this code. Using the clues the numbers had to be calculated using these steps
  1. Calculate the ElGamel public key using values g=10, p=307 and a=21
  2. Encrypt message number 15 using public key which was calculated and number 9
  3. The encryption process produces two numbers 280 and 302 which make up the code

Solution : All 19 codes were posted one by one followed by the last clue. The characters had to be transformed in ASCII code, each one creates 6 two-digit numbers.
