Microsoft reveals upcoming Windows Phone 7 updates at MWC


Microsoft kicked off MWC 2011 today by previewing some of the upcoming features due for Windows Phone 7 this year. It has been a year since Windows Phone 7 was first introduced during the 2010 MWC

The updates include several new features, a booming app marketplace and integration of even more Microsoft products with Windows Phone. Some of the upcoming features include:

IE9 Mobile - The update for IE will be available for Windows Phone 7 in the second half of 2011. It offers a 'dramatically enhanced mobile web browser experience'. The desktop version of IE9 which is currently in beta has been downloaded an estimated 25 million times

Twitter Integration - Twitter will be natively integrated into 'People's Hub' and this feature will be available for Windows Phone 7 by the second half of 2011. The twitter integration will be similar to how Facebook is integrated.

SkyDrive - This feature will allow users to access their documents saved on the cloud from their mobile devices. Skydrive will be a part of the Office Hub.

Other features include Copy paste which is due next month, multi tasking, XBox live Extras and some new games for XBox Live


Microsoft has a lot on their plates this year, specially with their partnership with Nokia:
"This partnership will combine the strengths of our two companies, and fuel our growth as we build the global Windows Phone ecosystem. This is a great win for us, for Nokia, and for our existing and new customers around the world,"
said Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business President - Andy Lees.
