[Guide] How to install Android on HTC HD2


Several users were disappointed when the very capable HTC HD2 wasn't updated to Windows Phone 7 and forced to remain on Windows Mobile 6.5. Especially when it had the hardware capable of running modern mobile operating systems. Luckily developers have managed to port the Android operating system to this once proud Windows Phone.

If you want to try it out for yourself, check out the following guide shows you how to install Google's Android 2.2 on the HTC HD2.

NOTE - This process involves installing a custom ROM on hardware that may not have been originally intended for the software. The guide is recommended for advanced users only who understand the implications of installing custom ROMS. This process may result in your device getting bricked and this site or the creators of the port should not be held responsible for it.

The HD2 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 features a 4.3-inch display, 5MP camera with dual-LED flash and is powered by a 1GHz processor.
  1. Download MAGLDR 1.10
    -
  2. Download NAND Android ROM [ 010203 | 04 | 05 | 06 ]
    -
  3. Extract MAGLDR
    • Open the extracted folder
    •  Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe
    • Connect your device over USB and make sure it's connected
    • Click 'I Understand...' then 'Next' and follow the prompts.
    • After setup device will reboot

  4. When device reboots select '4. USB Flasher' from the menu which loads
    • You can use the volume buttons to browse and Send (green) button to select.

  5. Extract the NAND Android ROM file you downloaded in Step 02
    • Open DAF.exe file from within the folder.
    • Ensure your device is connected and run the file
    • Wait while the device is connected and the ROM is flashed to your device.
    • Your device should automatically reboot into Android.
