Nokia Belle devices receive "Upload to SkyDrive" software update


Nokia Belle devices are receiving a minor software update titled ‘Upload to SkyDrive’ which gives users the option to copy you contacts and photos from your Nokia Symbian device to the SkyDrive cloud service. Installing this update will be a great addition for Nokia 808 PureView users who can store their photos on the cloud and access them on their computers or other Lumia devices.

You can download the update by opening the SW Update application on your Nokia Symbian Belle device and select the update to install it. The update is around 381 kB in size, so it shouldn’t take long to install. Once the update is complete make sure you restart your device

[Symbian app] SwipeUnlock for Symbian^3 updated (1.7)

The SwipeUnlock for Symbian app has been updated to version 1.7 and offers a few performance improvements and bug fixes. SwipeUnlock brings the Meego style lockscreen from the Nokia N9 to Symbian^3 devices. You can unlock by swiping your finger vertically or horizontally and you can even view missed calls or manage the built in player directly from your lockscreen.

Nokia N8 receives new firmware (111.40.805) on Navifirm

A new firmware update (111.40.805) has appeared on Navifirm for the Nokia N8. While we aren't certain on what new features are available in the new firmware, it appears to be the much awaited Belle Refresh update for the Nokia N8.

As you may already know the first generation Nokia Symbian^3 devices are set to receive an update titled Belle Refresh Update instead of the Nokia Belle FP1 or newer updates which will be available for the latest devices.

More updates coming to first generation Symbian^3 devices

Since the Nokia Belle FP1 update will be limited to only a select few Nokia devices, the chances of devices like the Nokia N8 and the Nokia E7 getting future updates became suddenly questionable. However a recent post on Nokia Discussions gave assurance that Nokia was not done with updating their older Symbian handsets.

[Guide] How to hack Symbian S60v3, S60v5 and Anna devices

The following guide will show you how to hack your Symbian S60v3, Symbian S60v5 and Symbian Anna devices using the system read/write access of an antivirus app on your device. The method will require coping three .ldd (ROM Patcher) files inside the C:/sys/bin folder.

ROMPatcher is able to hack the device only if these files are present in the system folder. Hacking is similar to Rooting on your Android device and gives you read/write access to system folders and the ability to install any unsigned apps without getting a certificate error. It will also give you the ability to install various modifications to your device.

It seems like Nokia will continue to support the Symbian OS, even though they have chosen to use Windows Phone as their primary smartphone operating system.

Nokia N8 - Software Review

The Nokia N8 is a smartphone designed and manufactured by Nokia which runs Symbian OS. The device features a 3.5 inch touch display, up to 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD and a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash.

Welcome to the software review of the Nokia N8. You can read the hardware review here. What do we know so far. The Nokia N8 is primarily a camera phone, and features a 12MP camera with Xenon flash capable of HD video. It has a range of connectivity options and hardware features.

This section deals with the software, starting with it's operating system: Symbian^3. We will begin with powering up the device and walking through it's features, and see if Nokia's use of Symbian^3 has in any way been a disadvantage to users.

Nokia C6-01 - Hands On

The Nokia C6-01 was announced at Nokia World 2010 yesterday alongside the Nokia E7 and the Nokia C7. It features a 3.2 inch touch display, a 2GB microSD card, an 8 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 680 MHz processor with 256 MB of RAM.

Nokia N8 - Final release software demonstrated

The Nokia N8 which runs Symbian^3 features a 3.5 inch touch display, 16GB of storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon Flash which is capable of 720p HD video capture all encased in an anodized aluminum casing.

Asphalt 5 for Symbian demonstrated on Nokia N8

Gameloft has released a trailer of Asphalt 5 being played on the Nokia N8. Because of the N8's internal graphics chip, it is capable of playing demanding 3D games with ease.
