Ericsson to sell it's share to Sony

Ericsson has announced that it is selling it's share of the Sony Ericsson joint venture to Sony for $1.47 billion (€ 1.05 billion). The Japan based Sony Corporation will become the sole owner in an attempt to boost it's mobile portfolio and presence in the mobile industry.

Sony Ericsson attacks fansite

I personally feel its the blogger and fan site communities that keep the mobile industry going, so this came as quite a surprise when I found that Sony Ericsson was suing a fan site. The website XperiaBlog.net which is dedicated to Sony Ericsson's Xperia lineup of devices has been asked to transfer their domain name along with XperiaX10.net to Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson reveals Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade plans

Now that the latest flavor of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is upon us, everyone is curious to know which handsets will be getting the latest version of Android. Sony Ericsson Netherlands has revealed in a Tweet, that all of it's 2011 Xperia Android lineup will get updated to the next Android Platform.

While that there is no confirmation that this said update is Android 4.0. We can remain hopeful that this will indeed be the case and not just a bump up in Gingerbread.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. If you do update you will loose your root, so you can follow this guide to re enable it.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 receives Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread software update


The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has received the Android 2.3.3 which brings the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread along with other features and improvements. You can get this update using the Sony Ericsson PC Companion app if you are using the unbranded version of the X10.

It has also been reported that this update offers better battery life and cool new animations. If you have rooted your device please note that the update will disable it. If you have any questions or comments on this update please post them below.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will load all PS1 games

A few days ago I was reading an article which said that by 2015 mobile devices will be able to handle the gaming graphics of modern consoles. While I do feel we are far from reaching that point Its something that got my attention.

One smartphone which is already taking steps towards getting there is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which plays PlayStation One games. While the device only plays games games from it's dedicated market, a developer has worked on a hack that allows to load any PS1 game from an ISO image and play it on the Xperia gaming device.

Apple becomes world's largest smartphone manufacturer

According to a report by the International Data Cooperating Apple is now the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. Apple has shipped 20.3 million iPhone phones by Q2, 2011 and is up 141.1 percent since last year's 8.4 million. It's international market share stands at 19.1 percent compared to the 13 percent from last year.

Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman - Video Preview

The  Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman is a feature phone with a 3 inch display and a 3.15MP camera. The device has an overall plastic design and a metallic band runs around the body. A feature that would interest most is the Karaoke function which allows you to sing along with your favorite song by muffling the vocals. The device UI features four icons on four corners, similar to the UI used in the newer Android based devices from Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play receives Android 2.3.3 software update

Sony Ericsson has started rolling out the Android 2.3.3 update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. While Sony Ericsson hasn't specified which markets will get the update first, they have mentioned that the unbranded versions of the devices will be first in line for this update.

This update will bring better Facebook integration, which was introduced on the Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro and will also bring the Android security update along with some security issues identified by Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson releases Xperia Facebook phones

Two new devices have joined Sony Ericsson's Xperia lineup of devies, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro. Both devices run Google's Android mobile operating system and have 3-inch displays with Sony's mobile BRAVIA engine. The Xperia Mini Pro features a full slide out QWERTY keyboard and is aimed at a business audience.
