[iOS app] WhatsApp updated (2.11.14) with support to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

WhatsApp for iOS has been updated to version 2.11.14 which included support for the larger screens of the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus, along with the usual bug fixes and performance improvements. WhatsApp is a popular cross-platform messaging service, which was recently purchased by Facebook.

[Windows Phone app] Facebook (beta) updated with new design and features

Facebook for Windows PhoneFacebook for Windows Phone beta has been updated to version 8.3.0.1 for Windows Phone devices. The latest release brings a brand new design, which includes a News Feed text banner at the top with a Search button and current online contacts list. Below it is the new header with five icons, which include quick access to News Feed, Friend Requests, Messages, Notifications and your profile.

Facebook for Android has been updated with a new user interface which is flatter and easier to navigate through. This is the same design which was released for a short period on Facebook's alpha channel several months ago. Facebook MWC Event - Keynote presentation by Mark Zuckerberg

Mark ZuckerbergFacebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg will appear at the Mobile World Congress 2014 for a keynote presentation. During this presentation he will speak about the Facebook social network, the WhatsApp acquisition and the proliferation of the web.

Facebook, the world's largest social network, recently acquired the popular instant messaging client WhatsApp for a sum of $19.5 billion, and it's been the hot topic in tech in the past few days.

Facebook Messenger coming to Windows Phone

Today in Barcelona, Microsoft announced that Facebook Messenger would be joining the Windows Phone platform as a stand-alone application. Just like  Facebook Messenger on iOS and Android, the app will allow you to share messages with your Facebook friends without opening the dedicated Facebook app. It should also incorporate a number of other features that the app is able to do.

Facebook purchases WhatsApp for $16 billion

Facebook has acquired the hugely popular WhatsApp cross-platform messaging application for a cool $16 billion. This includes $12 billion worth of Facebook shares and $4 billion in cash. Jan Koum, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO, will join Facebook’s Board of Directors.

At the moment, WhatsApp has more than 450 million monthly users combined  across Android, iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and even select Asha and Symbian devices.
