Pre-orders for Windows 8 and Windows 8 PCs start today


Starting today users can pre-order a DVD packaged copy of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $69.99 USD through select US retailers, including Amazon, BestBuy, Staples, Office Depot and the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft offers Windows 8 in five vibrantly illustrated packages made up of paper based materials, aimed at being more eco-friendly. They have also managed to reduce the package weight by 41%.

You can opt to wait until October 26th when you can get a digital copy of Windows 8 Pro upgrade through windows.com using the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant for just $39.99. The online upgrade will be available will be available for 140 countries around the world in 37 languages. The upgrade promotion will only be available through January 31, 2013.


Starting today, various OEM Manufacturers including HP, Asus, Acer, Dell and Sony will allow users to pre-order Windows 8 PCs and devices. Users who purchase an eligible Windows 7 PC anytime between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 will be able to purchase Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99. You can redeem this offer starting October 26th.
