Sailfish OS demonstrated on Nokia N950
Jolla recently unveiled their Meego based Sailfish OS during the Slush event in Finland. We also got a short demonstration of the Sailfish operating system in action. Sailfish is the outcome of continuous development on the Meego platform which Nokia discontinued in favor of Windows Phone.

Nokia N950 receives Meego PR1.2 Beta
For those who don't know it, the Nokia N950 is the true successor to the Nokia N900 and the QWERTY toting sibling of the Nokia N9. The device features a 4 inch display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, 12 megapixel camera and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.
Nokia Developers have just posted that the latest Meego Harmattan PR1.2 (3.2012.02-6_PR_RM680) Beta update has been released for the device along with it's change-log.

Nokia N950 receives (PR 1.1) software update
The developer only Nokia N950 has received a firmware update taking it to PR 1.1. The N950 runs Meego which will be updated to 2.2011.39-5 and the file size of the update will be 278.6 MB
The update is available OTA and you can check for it by heading to Settings > Applications > Update
The update brings Swype and allows you to share images on Twitter among other new features and improvements. The full changelog of this update follows.

Nokia E7 vs. Nokia N950 - Video Comparison
The Nokia E7 and the Nokia N950 may look similar from the outside, but they are two very different monsters. The biggest differences between the two is the operating systems with the E7 running Symbian while the N950 runs Meego.

The device features a 4 inch touch display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 12 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.

Two Meegos are better than one
Nokia recently announced the Nokia N9, it's first Meego running smartphone. But it looks like there is going to be more than one device powered by Meego coming from the folks at Nokia, and that is namely the Nokia N950.
