The Motorola Moto Maxx is now official, as a non-CDMA variant of the Motorola DROID Turbo which is a Verizon exclusive. The handset was announced today in Brazil and is headed to Mexico and other Latin American markets.
The Moto Maxx like its sibling the DROID Turbo, is one of the best smartphones from Motorola. It features a 5.2 inch Quad HD display, a 20.7MP rear camera, a 3900 mAh battery and a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM. The handset is also splash resistant like the DROID Turbo, weighs 176 grams, and measures 143.5 x 73.3 x 11.2 mm. The handset runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and should be one of the first handsets to be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The only difference other than the network configuration is that the DROID Turbo is available with, or without a Ballistic Nylon back panel, in 32 GB and 64 GB variants, while the Moto MAXX is only available in 64 GB Ballistic Nylon version.
Folks in Brazil will be able to purchase the smartphone started today for 2199 reais ($870). The handset will arrive in Mexico in mid-November with other Latin American markets expected to receive it later. While the Moto Maxx is technically a global phone, Motorola didn't share any details on plans to bring this device to other markets.
