Yesterday, the Jolla tablet was officially announced as the company's first tablet. Just like the Jolla Smartphone before it, the tablet runs Sailfish OS. However Jolla took a different approach with the tablet aiming to raise $380,000 in 21 days through crowdfunding. It turns out the company managed to reach its goal in just a couple of hours
It seems that the fans continue to contribute towards Jolla's effort, allowing the company to reach $1,018,816 (268% of goal) with 29 days left. Jolla is excited about the success of its campaign, and announced that its first batch of tablets had sold out. This means that 2000 contributors will be getting their own Jolla tablet at least $189.
The Jolla Tablet features a 7.9 inch IPS touch display with a 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, a 4300mAh battery and a 1.8GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM. The Jolla Tablet is just 7.5mm thin.
Another 2000 units are still available for anyone who wish to contribute by following the source link at the end of this page. Currently you will have to contribute at least $204 and live in any of the following markets: the US, the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, Russia, India, China, or Hong Kong.
