Google's ATAP (Advanced Technologies and Projects) Team, who are known for Project Ara are also responsible for Project Tango - a smartphone or tablet that makes use of two rear cameras and two sensors to create a 3D model of your surroundings. Today, the first Project Tango tablet was made available on the Play Store.
The tablet comes with a 7.02 inch IPS display with a 1900 x 1200 pixel (323 ppi) resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded by an additional 128GB of microSD, a 4MP rear camera with a 2 µm pixel RGB-IR sensor, a 1MP fixed focus front camera with IR LED, and a 2.3GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset with a 192 CUDA core Kepler GPU and a whopping 4GB of RAM. You also get a 4,960 mAh battery (made up of two 2,480 mAh cells) and front facing stereo speakers.
On the downside, you will get Android 4.4 KitKat instead of Android 5.0 Lollipop and rather bulky dimensions - at 4.71 x 7.73 x 0.6 in (119.77 x 196.33 x 15.36 mm) and a weight of 13.1 oz (370 g).
Keep in mind that this tablet is meant as a developer kit and not aimed at consumers, but it does have an attractive eye catching design. While the pricing has not been revealed, preliminary info points towards a price tag of upwards of $1,000. Its also important to note that these devices will be sold as-is, so you'll likely be out of luck it it arrives defective.
