Sony Xperia Z3v for Verizon announced, coming on October 23rd for $199.99 on contract

Today Sony has announced the for Verizon. The new smartphone is a variant of the international and will launch on October 23 for a price of $199.99 on contract.

Sony has relied on T-Mobile to bring its handsets to the states. The Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z1s were both offered by the nation's fourth largest carrier. T-Mobile is also expected to offer the Sony Xperia Z3, although no launch date has been announced.

The Xperia Z3v is a model made exclusively for Verizon. Interestingly, while the Xperia Z3v features the same Sony Xperia Z3 hardware, the phone will have the body from the Sony Xperia Z2. This means you get a 5.2 inch Triluminuous display with a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded by up to 128GB of microSD, a 20.7MP rear camera capable of 4K video recording, a secondary camera for video calls, a 3200mAh battery and a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM. The Xperia Z3v offers protection from dust and water thanks to its IP68 certification and you can connect your device to a PlayStation 4 Dual-Shock controller to play the console's games.
