During yesterday's event, Samsung unveiled several new devices (Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Gear VR). However it doesn't look like the company is quite done, as it is now unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active. The Tab Active is the company’s very first dust- and water-resistant tablet (IP56-certified).
Unlike other water-resistant tablets on the market - like Sony’s Xperias - the new Samsung slate isn't necessarily meant for regular users. Instead it is built for those with an active lifestyle looking for a rugged device for their work. The Galaxy Tab Active has the same design elements of the Samsung Galaxy S5 active, and is protected by an anti-shock covering that can withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters.
The Android 4.4 KitKat tablet features an 8 inch TFT display with an 800 by 1200 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 3.1MP rear camera, a 1.2MP front camera, 4G LTE connectivity, a stylus called C-Pen, a 4450 mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The device weighs 393 grams, and measures 213.1 x 126.2 x 9.75 mm.
Samsung didn’t say exactly when the Galaxy Tab Active would be released, and neither how much it’s going to cost.
