After months of speculation and rumors, Microsoft has finally announced the Wireless Display Adapter. Though we first suspected Microsoft to be working on a Chromecast competitor, this $59.95 dongle connects to your HDTVs HDMI port and allows you to wirelessly project your screen from your Miracast-enabled device
This means your Miracast-capable tablet, laptop, or smartphone running Windows Phone, Windows 8.1 and Android 4.2.1+ devices will work with this device. Since you’re just mirroring your output, you can easily watch HD movies, playing games, flicking through photos, listening to music, browse web or share PowerPoint presentations on big screen.
The Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is available for preorder now in the U.S. and Canada and generally available in October for $59.95 (U.S.) online at the Microsoft Store and at Best Buy and Microsoft Retail Store locations.
