French consumer electronics company Archos has announced several new products including its first Windows Phone device. While Archos may not be known among the big names in the tech industry, the company has managed to launch an impressive lineup of smartphones and tablets.
The company's Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone is known as the Archos 40 Cesium. It features a 4 inch display and a quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor. The handset is available in three colors and is being priced at $99 to compete with the Nokia Lumia 530.
Next we have the Archos 80 Cesium, a Windows 8.1 tablet which features an 8 inch display with a 1280 by 800 pixel resolution and a quad-core Intel processor. This tablet will be priced at $149 and is expected to be released in October. Other features have not been revealed at this time.
The company also announced the Archos 50b Platinum and Archos 45c Platinum smartphones and the Archos 101 Oxygen tablet, all running Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Archos 50b Platinum features a 5 inch IPS display with a 540 by 960 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, a 1900 mAh battery, dual SIM capability, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 512MB of RAM. The device has been priced at $149 and will launch in September.
The Archos 45c Platinum features a smaller 4.5 inch IPS display with a 480 by 854 pixels resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, a 1900 mAh battery, dual SIM capability, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 512MB of RAM. The device has been priced at $129 and will launch in September.
The Archos 101 Oxygen tablet features a 10.1 inch 1080p display, 16GB of internal storage and a quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The tablet has been priced at $149 and will launch in October.
All of the Archos device lineup will be showcased at IFA 2014 early next month, so stay tuned for updates in the weeks ahead.
