Waze for iOS and Android updated with ability to send text messages to family and friends

Waze updated for iOS and Android

and have been updated to version 3.8.0 which brings several new features and improvements to the popular crowd-sourced navigation app. Now it comes with better social features, as it allows you to send and receive friend requests, as well as manage your friends list. Waze also automatically goes through the contacts in your smartphone and finds the ones that are also Waze users.

Additionally the update also brings several improvements in the safety department. For example, you can now now set Waze inform your friends or relatives when you are going to arrive at your destination. It estimates how long it will take you to get there and sends them text messages with the estimated time of your arrival. This way, you'll have one less reason to use your phone and text while driving. Additionally, Waze can automatically send a text message to some predefined contacts if you happen to get stuck in one of those unpleasant traffic jams.

Among the other, not so notable improvements, are the slightly redesigned ETA screen and interface of the app, which now allow you to easily share your route with your Waze friends. The app has been also given the usual bug-fixing, stability-improving treatment.
