Amazon has scheduled a special launch event in Seattle, on June 18th. While the company has not revealed what they are launching on this day, the wide speculation is that the company will unveil its very first smartphone. The event kicks off at 10:30 AM PT (1:30 PM ET (your local time)) and we will be bringing you live coverage as the unveiling takes place.
A smartphone would expand its product line from its current trio of e-readers, tablets, and a streaming TV box, all carrying the Kindle brand. Amazon has been rumored to have been building a smartphone, which makes sense after the debut of its Kindle Fire line of tablets. The smartphone is expected to feature a 3D-imaging, and Amazon itself may introduce its own wireless plan to pair with the device.
