The Alcatel OneTouch Idol X stood out last year, for being a great value for your money, offering a 5 inch 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera and dual SIM capabilities for a third of the cost of flagships with similar specs. Now the company is at is again with the Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+, which offers even better specs at the same price.
The new Idol X+ now comes with a octa-core processor from MediaTek, compared to the quad-core processor from last year's model. Alcatel has also brought audio improvements to their newest flagship in the form of enhanced audio output quality, which it calls “Hi-Fi” and the inclusion of a JBL headset in the box.
At $400, you get a well built smartphone which is thin and light and comes with a decent 5 inch 1080p display and powerful processor. You also get premium audio quality and a set of JBL speakers for the money you spend, as well as stellar call quality and dual SIM functionality. The software side feels a little outdated with Android Jelly Bean, with no information on a KitKat update. But at the end of the day, you get a great value device for the money you spend, just as you did with its predecessor.
