The Sony Xperia E1 was recently announced an affordable smartphone aimed at music lovers, with a dedicated Walkman button and a rich music application. The Xperia E1 is also a very compact and lightweight phone which packs a powerful Snapdragon 200 chip.
All in all, the Sony Xperia E1 turns out to be a device that is affordable, yet offering an above average performance for its class. Unfortunately two of the most important components on modern smartphones have been compromised: the display is of underwhelming quality, and the camera captures mostly disappointing shots.
The Xperia E1 price depends on market, varying from around $150 and up to €140 ($190). At this price the device will have to face off against the Nokia Lumia 520 with Windows Phone 8 and the Motorola Moto G which comes with a a larger display and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
All in all, the Xperia E1 seems like an affordable device that does little to stand out in the fiercely competitive low-end segment. Still if your brand loyalty is high and you are on a budget, the Xperia E1 maybe the right device for you.
