Samsung ATIV SE coming later this month, without Windows Phone 8.1

With Windows Phone 8.1 around the corner, we expect a few new Windows Phones from various manufacturers to accompany the new mobile platform. We know that Nokia is working on the Lumia 630 and Lumia 930, but Samsung has also been working on a new device. The Samsung ATIV SE, which is headed to Verizon has been appearing in various leaks, but its specs have remained elusive until now.

We've seen a few leaks involving Samsung's upcoming Windows Phone powered release for Verizon, the Samsung ATIV SE. For example, we've seen an alleged press shot of the phone from evleaks, and another leak revealed that the device will supposedly be released on April 18th with a full retail price of $599. Today, sources close to Verizon claim that the Samsung ATIV SE will not have Windows Phone 8.1 installed out of the box. Instead it would come with Windows Phone 8 with the following specifications
  • 5-inch screen
  • 1080p display
  • 13 megapixel camera
  • Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot to expand storage
Keep in mind that this information is based on rumors and should not be taken as fact, although they fit perfectly with what we guessed they would be a couple of weeks ago. If you like the Samsung Galaxy S4, but prefer Windows Phone to Android, this phone is going to be a no brainer, with or without Windows Phone 8.1 pre-installed.
