We know that Windows Phone 8.1 is coming and a developer preview will likely be released ahead of the update being launched to the public. As the launch draws closer, the number of leaks indicating Windows Phone 8.1 also seem to increase, and the latest one shows that Nokia is testing the update with its own internal codename - Cherry Blossom Pink.
As you know, once Windows Phone updates are released to manufacturers like Nokia, they get one more level of customization before they can be deployed to the various handsets. Nokia has referred to their previous updates as Nokia Amber and Nokia Black, which looks like it will be followed by Nokia Cherry Blossom Pink.
In case you are curious about Nokia's naming choice, it could have something to do with the fact that the Windows Phone 8.1 update is coming out in spring. Each spring, the National Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in Washington, DC in the U.S., while hanami parties under the sakura trees are happening all over Japan and Nokia's homeland of Finland celebrates their cherry blossom festival in May.
The Windows Phone 8.1 software update with Nokia Cherry Blossom Pink is expected to arrive for all existing Lumia Windows Phones (where carriers allow it) alongside a new lineup of Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
