Samsung has introduced a new lineup of camera flash LEDs for mobile devices. The first one is the 3432 1.8t (FH341A) reflector-integrated flash LED. The flash is designed for high-end mobile devices with cameras that require a wider field of view (FOV) angle. Apparently, the next Galaxy smartphone is one such product, because the company confirmed that this LED module will be used in its “next Galaxy smartphone”.
The LED module provides a wide FOV, a lead frame, and a reflector with its own optics and diffusion features. It will deliver over 165 lux at 1A, and a minimum color rendering index of 80. According to Sammy, this assures "quality photos in daylight and at night." Another new Samsung LED module, the 3432 1.4t (FH341B), is specifically designed for mobile OEMs seeking “extra-slim LED solutions”. The package is 1.4mm thick, which is supposedly ideal for devices thinner than 7mm. It has a minimum illuminance level of 165 lux.
Samsung also unveiled the LED 2016 (FH201A) standard flash. In comparison with previous methods, which dispensed phosphor on each chip, this LED relies on proprietary cell-film phosphor applied to “flip-chip” packages. The module offers 220lm of light output and improves color deviation by around 40% compared with the older technology.
The final new product is a pair of Side View LEDs ─ 3810 0.6t (MS062F) and 3810 0.8t (MS082F). They feature high color reproducibility and brightness levels. They operate on less than 2.9 volts. The 3810 0.6t provides 3.1cd, while coming in at 0.6mm in height. Samsung deems it ideal for “slim smartphones and tablets”. The 3810 0.8t offers more luminous intensity at 3.2cd, with a 0.8mm thickness, which is better suited for tablet and notebook PCs.
It is likely that these LED modules will appear in this year's upcoming Galaxy devices including the soon to be announced Galaxy S5, which Samsung happened to mention will be introduced "later this month".. Let us know what you think about these new specifications on the comments section below
