Microsoft Surface 2 receives bug eliminating software update

Microsoft Surface 2

Back in December, Microsoft released a firmware update for the Microsoft Surface 2, but had to pull it not too long afterwards because it led to issues with the tablet. Microsoft stated that they would fix the issue and have the update ready after the holiday season. Now it looks like the update is rolling out to Surface 2 owners around the world

The issues users have faced before the update included problems with the battery life, where the device battery would drain faster than it should. Others complained that their Surface 2 would shut down completely when the cover was closed, instead of going into sleep mode as designed. There were even instances where the tablet would remain on, even when the cover was closed. Those Surface 2 owners who were not affected will not notice any changes to their devices from the update.

Microsoft also stated that they were getting ready to push out the replacement to the original update for those who did not receive it, or suffered the issues that took place after the first attempt to distribute it. Microsoft also had an earlier problem with the Microsoft Surface 2 and Windows 8.1, where units would freeze during the Windows 8.1 update process.
