Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 officially announced with 5.25 inch HD display, faux leather back and larger battery

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has been officially announced as the successor to last year's Samsung Galaxy Grand, with a higher resolution display, larger 2600 mAh battery, and a quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM.

The new model brings a slightly larger 5.25 inch display compared to the 5 inch from the original Grand. You also get a thinner 8.9mm profile compared to the 9.6 mm on its predecessor. The new Grand is taller but slightly narrower, which should make it a little easier to handle with one hand. The Grand 2 also features a faux leather back cover, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, indicating that this may become a standard on future Samsung models.

Other than those you get an 8 MP camera again with an LED flash, 8GB of internal memory plus a microSD slot for expansion, HSPA+ and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The device also comes in an optional Dual SIM model, targeted at emerging markets, and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The device will be available in Black, White and Pink but Samsung failed to share the pricing of the device. We should however know this very soon as the Grand 2 is expected to reach markets before the end of this year.
